I’m an early riser. I get up every morning at 4:30am. Not because I’m a masochist or a senior citizen, but because the early morning hours are the only time my mind is fresh, and the house is quiet. I get so much accomplished in those pre-dawn hours before boss baby and my other two girls wake up. Before the world awakes and the emails start flooding my inbox. It’s my time to think, plan, and be proactive.
It’s my time.
My body is pretty used to the ungodly 4:30am ritual. My alarm goes off, I hit dismiss, and roll right out of bed. It’s become a habit.
So today, my alarm went off, I dismissed, rolled out of bed, and went downstairs to make my coffee and start my day.
I started ticking things off my list – responding to work emails and adding the girls’ spring soccer games to my schedule. I go to respond to a friend’s text from last night and, before I hit send, I look at the time to see if it’s too early to reply. I didn’t want my ding to wake her.
On the top right-hand corner of my glowing screen, it reads:
“3:06am”
WTF? That can’t be right. My phone needs to resync or something. Then I look at my laptop screen:
“3:06am”
I’m losing my mind. Why am I awake? Why did I wake up? I had to have been up since 2:30am based on what I accomplished so far. The bars just closed, and I woke up. I’m not Mark Wahlberg. I shouldn’t be out of bed at this time. Maybe I dreamed I heard my alarm and woke up not realizing it was a dream?
Now I sit and wonder what to do with myself. Go back to bed? I’ve likely only had 4 hours of sleep but I’m not tired. I’ve had a full cup of coffee at this point.
No, I guess I’ll stay up and revel in the amount of time I will have to myself this morning. I even have time to write this. Which feels amazing because I haven’t had time to write in weeks. Life has been so amazingly busy that writing has not had a place in my day. But today, I got up when some people go to sleep. I have an entire 4 hours almost to myself…and I’m going to enjoy it.
I Love this picture!!!!!❤
In the video, she didn’t appear to like the poo in her pants either…so perhaps this was an unexpected win! 🙂
