I am a solid, everyday, 3-cups-of-coffee-drinker person. I’m not addicted to it, just like I’m not addicted to alcohol dammit. I just really like to make myself a drink. It’s the ritual of it that makes me happy. Seriously.
Anyways, I’ve been on the Keto diet since early 2018 and absolutely love it. Sure, I miss bread and I hate having to just scrape the toppings off pizza to eat it, but I don’t have to exercise like a nut anymore to avoid packing back on the pounds. So the trade-off is worth it.
The Keto diet includes drinking Bulletproof coffee which is essentially coffee, butter, and MCT oil (found in coconut oil) all blended together for a creamy breakfast replacement drink. Yes, you are supposed to put a chunk of butter and coconut oil in your coffee and slurp it up. Yes, I gagged at the thought of it too. But, like anything in life, don’t knock it until you tried it folks.
For me, the coffee combo is delicious. It’s surprisingly good. I’m not shitting you. In the beginning I would add butter, coconut oil, heavy whipping cream, and stevia but have eventually quit adding butter because I thought it was clogging my arteries and grass-fed butter is fucking expensive.
Here’s the thing about this coffee: coconut oil turns into a liquid when it’s hot enough but when it cools, its like the consistency of shortening or hand lotion. Imagine a cup of coffee with a curdled-looking layer resting on top of it. Just hanging out on the top of your drink like cottage cheese. And then imaging taking a sip and feeling the chunks.
Absolutely gross right?
Enter the frother. My favorite battery-operated object. This little beaut was a gift from my brother-in-law Bobby after he saw my nasty morning drink and had the reaction most people get at the word ‘moist.’ He couldn’t stand the look of my coffee so much that he felt compelled to buy me a milk frother. I shouldn’t have been surprised – he’s a very considerate and generous guy.
For me and frother, it was love at first blend. This thing is seriously amazing. I use it multiple times daily for my coffee, it’s good for hot chocolate, tea, and even scrambled eggs. I love it so much I even pack it with me to go on vacation. I’m sure the TSA agents get a little giggle seeing it in the x-ray thinking it’s a huge vibrator or something.
You can buy the frother at any home store like Bed Bath and Beyond. If you buy it using the links I gave in this post, I get a small commission but the opinion I expressed is wholly my own. Just trying to save up some cash to afford the grass-fed butter again :)!
